Woerden - town on the Roman limes
Station Woerden
Legacies from Woerden’s eventful past are the canals. Lined by old chestnut trees and works of art, they are a beautiful monument of culture and nature. Woerden still maintains its connections to cheese, denoted by the large warehouses and the weekly small-scale trade in cheese. Since the construction of the new church square the Roman past of Woerden can also be noted in the street scene

Town walks
You can take two different routes along Woerden’s most important points of interest and monuments. The town centre route takes you directly through the centre and the canal route takes you through the parks and along the canals of the town. A real “green” route!

Culture
Woerden has a number of beautiful monuments, such as the Castle, the Petrus Church, the old Town Hall, the Bonaventura Church, the Armoury and the Windhond Flourmill. Various art sculptures can be seen in the outlying areas of the town.

Nature
Because of its central location in The Green Heart, Woerden is the ideal place to start cycling, walking or skating routes in the region. The nature reserve De Meije is close by. The roads wind between pollard willows, over bridges and dikes and alongside beautifully placed houses.

Culinary
Allow yourself to be surprised by the culinary art and hospitality in the many restaurants of Woerden. After a day in Woerden, enjoy a delicious meal of almost any type and price.
